DAY TRIP MANTANANI ISLAND

Mantanani Islands also known as “Mermaid Island” , are a group northwest of Kota Belud, about 1 hour and 30 minutes of drive from the state of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu.  These islands are approximately 45 minutes boat ride by speedboat from the mainland Kuala Abai Jetty.  The island, shaped like knife, has a beach that stretches up to 2.5000 meters.  The fact, that thin island has been commercialized, secured its hidden secret.

The island promises that most diverse marine life with visibility up to 40 meters.  Many species of rays flutter around like blue spotted ray and marbled sting ray amongst large schools of fish.  Mantanani Island also the only place to see the Mantanani Scops Owls.  Also good for seeing other birds that usually nest on the island because of the relatively lack of natural terrestrial predators.

ITINERARY :

0730 HRS              Pick-up from hotel / lodge ( City area )

0800 HRS              Pick-up from Resort ( Outskirt )

0900 HRS              Arrive on base jetty Kota Belud and depart for island

1015 HRS              Arrive at island.  Begin first snorkeling / DSD or LD session

1230 HRS              BBQ lunch at the island

1400 HRS              Free & easy at the island.

1500 HRS              Depart from base jetty

1545 HRS              Arrive at base jetty and freshen up

1630 HRS              Depart for Kota Kinabalu
