Description:
This is a perfect opportunity to
experience one of Borneo’s beautiful waterfall systems, whilst trekking through
jungle untouched by the modern world, with the possible chance of seeing
different species of animals. Participants may challenge themselves to abseil
down a 15 metre waterfall. Participants may also cool down from the heat of the
day by swimming & relaxing in the sensationally cool waterfall pool.

Detailed Description:
This spectacular 1, 551 hectare forest reserve was gazetted on March 16,
1957 in an effort to preserve and sustain the biodiversity of the primary
forest reserve. In 1984, it was re-classified as a second class domestic forest
reserve. The main function of the reserve is to supply gravity water from the on
site Tanaki waterfall system to the local population living within
its proximity. Outdoor enthusiasts who conquer this trek will have experienced
the typical rough terrain of the Bornean jungle, whilst learning new
skills & many facts about the jungle environment. The forest is not often
explored providing a chance to see and experience a peaceful, natural &
beautiful environment.

TUARAN DAY RIDE
The area around the market town of Tuaran is home of the Dusun tribe,
spread out in the hills and coastal plains making use of the natural
environment for sustenance. Farming rice, rubber, fruits &
coconuts. Hunting in the forests and fishing, they are friendly and
resourceful.
Our day ride takes us through the heartland of the Dusun people,
small riverside villages, jungle plantations and onto a coastal plain
where we will stop for lunch in Tuaran town close to he Chinese
Pagoda. A short 20 minute ride takes us back to the start of the ride, nice and
flat all the way! 40% of this ride is on dirt roads and sometimes they are
quite rough, for the rest of the ride we travel on small village roads with
very little traffic. There are three hanging bridges to add to the days excitement.
A support vehicle is nearby at all times.

MOUNTAIN RIDE MINI ADVENTURE
MINI ADVENTURE TOUR
Would you like to ride and trek in some of North Borneo’s
most dramatic scenery? This ride
through the foothills and valleys of Mount Kinabalu takes
you well away from tourist routes and into the heart of jungle paradise. Riding
a mountain bike is one of the purest ways to see and interact with this
magnificent place. The mystique and commanding presence of Mount Kinabalu throughout
this ride provide a vista that changes almost minute by minute.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1
You will be collected from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu before
being driven to Mount Kinabalu National
Park where we will begin the ride. It starts with a 4.5km cruise on the main road,
downhill to our first turn off onto gravel. There is then 3km of gorgeous
descent before reaching a sealed road which takes you into the Kiau Valley.
We then ride along the side of a river for 17 km with excellent views of the
jungle-clad valley and Mount Kinabalu.
When we get to the end of the ride able trail,
we put the bikes onto the truck and from here we follow the river on foot for 5
km. during the jungle trek, we make a few river crossings until we arrive at
the paddy fields of Kampung Tambatuan where
we over night in the village community homestay. There is comfortable dorms bed a
huge veranda facing the granite walls of the western flanks of Mount Kinabalu. In the evening, there will be a sit-down dinner of
pasta to chat through the days thrills while the team service the bikes and get
ready for the second days adventure.
DAY 2
This is full
day in saddle. We head north on mostly gravel roads for 43 km, stopping to swim
in cool rivers and entertain the bemused locals. There are lots of cool drinks
supplied by the support vehicle along the way. The ride finishes at the market
town of Kota Belud, a bustling town where tourists are rarely seen. There
will be an opportunity to dip in the river and wash away the days sweat before
driving for 3=2 hours back to Kota Kinabalu.

RAFT & RIDE TRIP
A wet and wild day
out for the energetic! This morning
rafting is a fun-filled ride down the picturesque Kiulu River
through jungle-clad valleys and past villagers and farms with enough white
water to get you excited but not enough to scare you.
After the rafting you will enjoy a tasty barbeque lunch
and change into your riding clothes before a 15 minutes transfer to the start
of the mountain biking. After a short briefing and bike fitting, we will head
out for one of the most beautiful rides in rural Sabah. We cycle through
small riverside villages which are home to the Dusun tribal
people as well as jungle, plantations and the Dusun people
farms. The hills are thankfully few, far apart and short on the main route but
if you are feeling like stretching your legs a little our guides can take you
off to explore some more adventurous trails with single track and technical
descents.
A support vehicle is nearby at all times should a
problem occur.
